  • Interference Pattern

    Interference Pattern
Synchrotron interference pattern animation. Interference is like a shadow, the image created can be measured and the protein (or other molecule) can be understood/defined from this pattern.
  • Synchrotron Animation

Electron Path in a Synchrotron Ring
Electron path animation through a synchrotron. Electrons are shot out of laser into the smaller booster ring, cross-over into the main ring where they emitted x-rays tangentily down the beamlines as they bend around the ring via magnets.
  • K-shell Emission

    K-shell emission
Atomic process whereby an electron drops to its lowest energy state, then a higher energy electron fills the void and the lost energy is emitted as an x-ray photon.
  • Bremsstrahlung

    Bremsstrahlung
An atomic process which emits x-ray photons when an electron loses energy while going around a tungsten atom.
  • Rebuilding of SSRL

Time-lapsed movie of new magnet installation
Time-lapsed movie of new magnet installation at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory. This 58M dollar project was funded by National Institutes of Health and U.S. Department of Energy.

These illustrations were created for a public lecture at SLAC.
