- Developed an online PHP/SQL application for conference registration. The attendee interface allowed for registration and e-commerce payment. It was used for two 500+ person international conferences as well as multiple smaller events.
- Developed an administrative back-end for the PHP/SQL registration application which automated the financial and attendee data providing the administration with all the necessary details to conduct the conferences efficiently. This interface allowed for any record to be updated. The automatic processes produced such records as payments received, details about attendees special needs, head counts for banquet planning, and collection of scientific abstracts, papers, and presentations. Because the functions were automatic the details were completely current with no laborious record keeping. The ease of use, time and money savings made it very successful for the department.
- Created, updated, expanded, and maintained the five Photon Science websites, consisting of approximately 1000 active pages. The user interface accommodated an enormous range of users from the international scientific community, the U.S. Department of Energy leaders, the internal scientific staff, and a wide range of administrative users. 508 compliance was maintained per Federal funding requirements.
- Gathered and distilled
scientific project information to create web illustrations, identities,
and text for
scientists, Department of Energy decision makers, and the general public.
- Created illustrations and graphics for technical publications
and PowerPoint presentations.
- Created time-lapsed movies monthly, illustrating progress on a 58 million dollar
project(.mpg).
- Created
websites to specifically educate Department of Energy personnel on projects;
this education and communication contributed to ongoing DOE funding
for the lab.

Stanford Linear Accelerator Center Menlo Park, CA 1997-2000 -
Mechanical Designer
Teamed with engineers, physicists, machinists, and scientists to design
and build beamlines (high energy optic systems approximately 30 meters long)
at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lab. Each beamline had the same team
designing and building it for at least 1 year. These beamlines contained
radiation, operated under UHV conditions, and sections moved with extremely
precise controls.
- Gathered and translated verbal instructions and sketches from engineers
and physicists into CAD drawings from which the machinists made components.
- Selected off the shelf components based on material, size, and end
use taking Ultra High Vacuum requirements, strength needs, and space
restrictions into consideration.
- Designed custom pieces based on material strength, tolerancing, and
machining practices.
- Analyzed assemblies with respect to their movement in time and space
so as to eliminate part interference.
